Daedalon S.R.P. Inc. EA-50/F-249 Air Table
* Air Tables provide the only effective method of demonstrating the laws of mechanics in two dimensions. The friction-free motion of the heavy pucks and the integral spark recording system provide a clear, large and easily analyzed record of collisions. The paths of the pucks are recorded at fixed time intervals by small dots on a sheet of ordinary paper. Measurements of the motion can be made directly with a centimeter scale and a protractor. Since the recording paper is so inexpensive and the experiment is repeated so quickly, each student can analyze his own data.
* The Air Table is constructed with a flat glass surface that supports the recording and carbon paper needed for spark recording. Compressed air is supplied to the puck through light surgical tubing and exits from the bottom of the puck, causing it to float on the recording paper.
* Because the pucks have substantial mass, 550 grams, their motion is undisturbed by the tubing and enclosed spark wire. The series spark gap is completely enclosed and cannot be seen or heard during operation. The spark source operates at 10, 20 and 60 Hz power frequency.
* The Air Table is ideally suited for the performance of mechanics experiments including motion of a single body, free fall on a tilted plane, trajectories, orbits with a linear central force, simple harmonic motion, and two-body experiments (elastic and inelastic collisions, magnetic collisions, and explosions).
* The air is supplied to the pucks from the top. The pucks float over the table. Both pucks electrically connected to the Spark-Timer, plot their path on the paper (Clear dots at regular, known intervals). The results are Giant Graphs 45cm x 58cm for immediate study of Frictionless Phenomena.
* Easy to set up (5 minutes) and easy to use
* Clear trajectories with Precision Timing
* Robust construction, does not require any maintenance
* Minimum operation cost, less than $0.01 per experiment
* Heavy steel frictionless pucks diminish the already very small error factor
* Quantitative and qualitative experiments
* All sorts of collisions: direct hits, either elastic, non-elastic or even perfectly non-elastic
* The study of quantity of movement and energy
* The study of acceleration of movement, either linear or parabolic (missiles)
* The measurement of ‘g’
* Kinetic and potential energy
* Gravitational ellipsis, Demonstration of epicyclic trajectories of earth and moon around the sun
* Damped oscillations in viscous medium
* Etc… The only limit to the uses of this instrument is the imagination of the teacher
* No strobe light or camera required.
* It produces a giant graph.
* Table Area: Glass surface 58cm x 58cm
* Leveling: Three support screws with plastic feet
* Pucks: 7.5cm diameter, 1.9cm thick, overall height 10cm. 160gm auxiliary mass for unequal mass collisions
* Air Supply: 1/3 HP Diaphragm Compressor with self-contained motor.
* Pressure: 5 PSI Min. to 10 PSI Max.
* Connection: 1/4 inch flexible air hose
* Spark Recording: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 100 mil sec.
* Money Orders, Cashiers Checks, Checks (Company or Personal)
