The scale has protective ANTI-GLARE transparent coating / tape to guard against reflection and scratching. You can see the ANTI-GLARE working in the pictures. Which makes this scale in excellent overall cosmetic condition if you wanted to remove the transparent tape. Compatible with Brunson and K & E optical transit and leveling instruments to measure the precise distance of any object from a line of sight. Boeing scales have a redesigned face that is easy to read due to it's no glare graduated face. Line of sight is straight, alignments between different objects (such as machine components, jigs, foundations, tooling masters, rollers, etc.) are quantifiable. Made of hardened tool steel (invar material which possesses properties of extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion of (0.9 x 10-6/ °C)) with a white matter surface that eases reading it at extreme distances. Scale has optical targets evenly spaced every 0.100" and is far superior and easier to read than an ordinary Starrett satin face scale.
